Ac question, I got a few cans of r134 from autozone and my ac still doesn't work any ideas?

I put four cans in my 93 Sable. My ac works for a minute and then stops. The low side gauge is reading 70 and the high side is reading 320. I took it by the local autozone so they could check it for me. The young lad said my cabin air filter could be clogged but Jiffy Lube just changed that 8 years ago. I refuse to take it to a shop and get ripped off, so if someone can tell me how to fix it myself with detailed instructions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.Ac question, I got a few cans of r134 from autozone and my ac still doesn%26039;t work any ideas?
R134a should have a low side reading of approx. 25 to30 psi. You have overcharged the system. The high side reading is not relevant except for diagnostic purposes. You have flooded the condensor and therefore the system can't cool. You need to remove refrigerant till you get back to proper reading.Ac question, I got a few cans of r134 from autozone and my ac still doesn%26039;t work any ideas?
sounds like there is too much gas in the system. since you have that much pressure in the lines you can take soapy watter and see if you have a leak. you will have to use a recovery machine to get the gas out since you have too much. if you do find a leak remove all gas first. then replace hose, o-ring, or what ever part was leaking. then you will have to pull a vacuum on the system for at least 30 min. then you can start to put the gas back in. only put the amount in what the manufacture says. the best place to find the amount to fill is a ford or mercury manual or a chiltons manual if the info is not under the hood. also it could be your fan not working. some ford models had two fans one was just for ac if it is not working then it could explain the gauge readings that you decribed.if it has been that long since the cabin air filter was changed then its time for a new one.Ac question, I got a few cans of r134 from autozone and my ac still doesn%26039;t work any ideas?
The problem your having is that the a/c compressor is not staying on constantly so it wont take the coolant. You need to jumper the a/c compressor so that it stays running constantly while your adding the r134. Disconnect the connector on the compressor and jump it with a paperclip. This will cause the pump to stay running wide open. Now add the coolant and it will take the charge. Ac question, I got a few cans of r134 from autozone and my ac still doesn%26039;t work any ideas?
That's too much in the system! It should hang around 30-50 PSI on the low side.Ac question, I got a few cans of r134 from autozone and my ac still doesn%26039;t work any ideas?
You changed the cabin filter of a 15 Y.O. car 8 years ago, nothing lasts forever, if you want a second opinion go to another shop if they says it's a filter get filter. Dont look until you find a diagnosis that fits your opinion because you%26quot;re asking us, people you dont even know.Ac question, I got a few cans of r134 from autozone and my ac still doesn%26039;t work any ideas?
I dont believe ford uses a cabin air filter, your car cannot use 4 cans of freon, contact me at my free web page and we will discuss your repairing the A/c

Acura enthusiasts, give me some maintenance tips?

Hey Acura enthusiasts, I just bought a used 2008 Acura TL with 26,000. This is my first Acura and I must say I'm loving the car. It's polished metal metallic! The car now has 34,000 miles on and I've done the regular oil changes on time. I always put premiun unleaded gasoline and do not drive the car hard at all, rarely do I go over 75 unless on freeways. I want to maintain the car meticulously, so I have a few questions. How often should I replace the spark plugs, air filter, cabin air filter, and how many quarts of oil does the car take?

I also wanted to ask if it would be okay if I switch from normal oil to full synthetic oil if I change it myself? Will this void any dealer warranty at all?

Thanks in advance!Acura enthusiasts, give me some maintenance tips?
First off, don't take advice from people who cannot spell simple everyday words. And, keep using the premium gas.

Absolutely change the oil to synthetic. My '04 TL has 147,000 miles, and it acts like it has 20,000 miles on it. I don't change my own oil, but I used synthetic (4.5 quarts, by the way) after it was first broken in. Tune up is 100,000 miles, air filter when it looks dirty, cabin air filter about every 20,000 miles (not an easy change - you have to drop the glovebox down). Timing belt is 105,000 miles. By the way, my timing belt looked like it came out of the box, and I attribute this to the synthetic oil, because I drive the car with, shall we say, spirit.

It is a great car. I expect mine to go 300,000 miles. I do everything that comes up, and change the synthetic oil when the computer tells me. Change your transmission fluid at 60,000 miles, and every 30,000 after that.Acura enthusiasts, give me some maintenance tips?
first stop putting in the high grade well high price gas, that,s all sycological. it dont do any thing or help any thing or give any more power or better gas milage or any thing . its for older cars with high performance engines, new cars are made for regular gas, stop waisting your money 2 change the timing belt after 100 thousand and the water pump to . dont loan it to a friend ,Acura enthusiasts, give me some maintenance tips?
I own a 06 tsx 6MT/wnav, bought new 11/06. I have all the maintenance done by acura/honda dealers. I follow the maintenance minder. When the oil life shows 15%, it will show a code. The owners manual will tell you what the codes mean and what service needs to be done. Mine now shows B-1 (oil/filer change and tire rotation). You can do the maintanance yourself-keep the receipts showing it has been done. My car now has 98,000+problem free miles using regular gas and regular oil. I get compliments on how well maintained my car is.Acura enthusiasts, give me some maintenance tips?

Honda Accord 2003 air vent dust problem?

I have a 2003 Honda Accord. The car is just pushing 90k and in good condition. However, when I turn the air or the A/C on, a dusty smell comes through the vents. I bought a new cabin filter and replaced the old one, but the smell still occasionally comes through. Any ideas on how to clear this up? Another filter that needs to be changed?Honda Accord 2003 air vent dust problem?
That is the only cabin filter in the car.It should be a large size filter, some models might have 2 smaller sized ones, size by side. Both are located behind the glove box.Sometimes if the filter was pretty bad, you might have other debris that never got caught.try turning your blower on high and see if it cycles it through and stops after awhile.

Acura TL 08 air filter help!?

I checked my manual and couldn't find anything about where the cabin filer and how easy or hard it is to get to. I check a couple websites and people said it's kinda hard to change but I can't get an easy answer or video. Any advice would be appreciatedAcura TL 08 air filter help!?

Moldy / Mildewy Smell Coming From Car Air Vents?

Has anybody else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

So, I have a 2003 Honda Accord LX. I've done some research and the moste likely answer to this problem seems to be a dirty cabin filter. I'll attempt to change it today. It seems pretty easy.

I also found out that it could be the filter that filters the air right before the evaporator (not sure what it's called or where it is). I hope it's not this because this sounds like it might take a while to get to and change.

Any help or opinions would be appreciated!Moldy / Mildewy Smell Coming From Car Air Vents?
I used to work for Valvoline Express Care and we came across a lot of cars with this problem. Take a can of lysol spray and hold it facing up and spray it behind the dash on the underside, close to the floorboard and empty the whole can it will take care of the smell. Leave your windows down for awhile to ventilate afterwards.Moldy / Mildewy Smell Coming From Car Air Vents?
You can get your air conditioning %26quot;refreshed,%26quot; they pretty much put some air freshener into the system, that will take care of the actual smell. They may also be able to tell you why you have that smell.Moldy / Mildewy Smell Coming From Car Air Vents?
You should go to wal mart and get the air fresheners that stick inside you air vents I think they are called refresh. It may just be that you haven't use your air in a while. Just get those and the problem disapears.Moldy / Mildewy Smell Coming From Car Air Vents?
Your water drain is clogged up. you can usually find this under the passenger side by the front tire. You may hav eto take the AC apart from the inside however.

  • Remove engine cover on Dodge conversion van?

I recently bought a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 van with an Elk conversion package . . . . I wanted to change the air filter on it, and it looks like the air filter is accessible only from behind the engine cover inside the cabin. However, I can't figure out how to remove the engine cover . . . . There are two latches on either side of the cover, which will loosen the cover when unlatched, but the cover won't come off (I don't want to force it). I can't figure out if I'm just missing something or if the extra carpeting around the bottom of the cover added by the conversion is hiding an additional latch or screw.

Bottom line: How do I remove the engine cover from inside the cabin?Remove engine cover on Dodge conversion van?
most van's that i have worked on before have 4 hold down straps/bolts on them. two on the floor board location under the carpet and two more up under the dash area to hold it to the fire wall. they can either be bolts or flip straps. try looking for these. hope it helps ya out a little.Remove engine cover on Dodge conversion van?

Ford Focus has Rain Leak. Help?

So late last summer I took my car to a Jiffy Lube for an oil change and of course they have to rip out everything and try to get you to buy a 20 dollar air filter and such. This particular time they decide to ask me if I want them to change my cabin filter because it has acorns in it and they invite me to come look. I go and say yes because I was thinking, WTF is a cabin filter? Turns out under the plastic at the bottom of my windshield where the wipers connect is another air filter that does... something? The next time it rained heavily I noticed the carpet in my passenger side floorboard was wet underneath the mat. Wondering how that happened I start exploring. First question, where's the leak?

    Leak Detail:

The passenger side floorboard is wet. It began only getting damp so I never did anything about it because I frankly do not have $10 to spare, much less enough for a repairman to look at it. Now it has progressed to literally puddling on top of the carpet because the carpet gets so saturated. The leak started with the carpet being wet, not the rubber floor mat that was on top, so I know the water doesn't drip onto the mat. There is no wetness going up the side of the carpeting to the door, there is no dampness in the back or driver side. It is limited to the front passenger side which makes me think its coming out of the foot level air vents but I can't ever catch it dripping during heavy rain or with a hose but without fail it is pooled up after storms.

I went looking for where it was coming in and noticed that when they checked that cabin filter they broke one of those nifty plastic snaps that holds down that piece flush with the windshield. To me that means that was never meant to be popped open, but at any rate the snap is broken and I don't know how to get another snap there or what that part is called to try and find a new one. I'm not positive that's the source of the leak, but like food poisoning you always just look to the most recent change as the source of your sickness.

Help? Any other ideas for the source of the leak? Whats the name of that part so I can try and buy a new one to replace it?

(sorry for being so long winded)Ford Focus has Rain Leak. Help?
as for the plastice snap you should be able to get them from your ford dealer but as for the leaking im thinking that its your heater core and from statice electroises that is cased from a hi flow rate of your coolant and a brake down of sead im thinking that you should check into haveing it checked and also perhapes have a flow deflectoure instaled to help prevent this from happineg once more for some newer cars have a hi flow rate caseing eletarlisec and this cases heater cores to fail premeature and make for a rather wet flore might like to check the coolant level on your car and make shure that your coolant isnt low and if it is low might like to check it more freculey untale you can have the proper repaires to your car doneand its quite alright to be long winded for i to suffer frome the same allement and pore spellingFord Focus has Rain Leak. Help?
That windshield piece is called the cowl panel.

I've seen on focuses, that boot between the door jambs in which the wires run through, fall out on the car side of the door jamb, and water runs right into there. Check that %26quot;accordian boot%26quot; in the door jamb, and make sure its in place and hasn't come looseFord Focus has Rain Leak. Help?
We don't know what kind of car it is. Is that where the leak is coming from. We don't have any way of knowing. But I will say, if the plastic thingy was held to the windshield by a %26quot;snap%26quot; I doubt that's where the leak is coming from. %26quot;Snaps%26quot; aren't made to keep water out.

There is a good possibility that the %26quot;leak%26quot; is in the heater core(matrix) because that's about where it would be, directly above the passenger side flooring, behind the dash.

Got a 2005 toyota corolla that has a 1.8 liter engine, how long do you think the engine might last?

Bought the car new to save on fuel, its now got 191,144 miles on the engine. The oil is changed every 3,000-3,500 miles. had a service station performing it until the warranty ran out and then I

took over the oil change myself where I use Castrol High Mileage oil and fram toughguard filter 3x

occasionally use the fram toughguard 6x.

I run 93 octane in it religiously, every so often will run a injector, valve cleaner in it. Never had any engine problems yet, infact the only thing being changed is the oil,oil filter, air filter, cabin air filter and spark plugs, got some 4 prong bosch 8 dollar a piece plugs in it and have only serviced the

    trans once in 191,144 miles.

Im thinking the engine will make it 500,000 miles but the timing belt has never been change nor the water pump or anything else for that matter. should I be concerned or just let the thing drive like it is?

I did have to replace the wheel bearings front and back and change out a fuel pump but other than

500 dollars on non engine matinence, its been a good damn car.

got any ideas on how long the engine should last and does the 93 octane keep the sludge down and make it last longer?Got a 2005 toyota corolla that has a 1.8 liter engine, how long do you think the engine might last?
you are really doing an exceptional job maintaining your car but some of the things you are doing are an overkill. First off, unless your car's engine is tuned for 87 octane so running 93 is not only wasting money but over time but can actually decrease your fuel economy. Consider this: 1996 and newer cars have knock sensors to take care of low octane fuels. Also, your car has VVTi- which is basically VTEC. Honda gave it a label and markets it as such but practically every manufacturer has some form of it. It is designed to run on 87 octane so why waste your money on premium? You may think it improves things but in reality, it doesn't. Oc older cars, it would but newer cars, no unless that engine was designed to run on premium- which it's not. premium is considered cleaner burning but that's just because it burns faster. That's why every car you see that gets high mpgs have a manufacturers recommendation of 87 octane in their owner's manual. If this car is as well-maintained as you say then you don't even need high mileage oil. regular 5/30 and 10/30 will be fine.BTW, your corolla does NOT have a timing belt. It has a maintenance-free timing chain. 1997 was the last year a Corolla was made with a timing belt. keep up the good work and you should easily see 500,000 miles.Got a 2005 toyota corolla that has a 1.8 liter engine, how long do you think the engine might last?
Well it sounds like you take really good care of it so you should max out the life span of the engine! By the sounds of it, getting the 500K mileage doesn't seem to be out of the question! In reference to the timing belt, they recommend changing those every 60K miles so if I were to recommend anything, it would be to change that! If the belt breaks, it could cause some major, costly valve damage. Best of luck with itGot a 2005 toyota corolla that has a 1.8 liter engine, how long do you think the engine might last?
If you continue taking care of your car, it could very well do 500k miles or more. However, the timing belt needs to be changed every 60,000 miles. If it breaks, it could wreck your engine, so you should change it at your earliest convenience. It would probably be a good idea to go ahead and change the water pump and thermostat at the same time.

As for gas, 93 octane is a waste of money for a regular 4-cylinder engine. 93 octane gas is formulated for high performance/high compression engines, and has no benefit for a regular engine. The oil you are using will do more to fight sludge than the fuel.Got a 2005 toyota corolla that has a 1.8 liter engine, how long do you think the engine might last?
deffinity keep doing this and it will last forever easy. Premium fuel will NOT keep your sluge down but keep your car clean and MPG up. Its all in the oil you use and castrol is great stuff to use. Your car has a timing chain not a belt so you dont have to worry about that. Chains dont have to changed but with nearly 200k i would look into that. Even if you had a belt you would NOT change it at 60k like said by someone else. keep up with maintaince and it will last forever because its a TOYOTAGot a 2005 toyota corolla that has a 1.8 liter engine, how long do you think the engine might last?
everyone is saying to change the timing belt at 60K but i have a 2004 and i though it had a timing chain. You may what to ask the dealer if it has a chain or belt?Got a 2005 toyota corolla that has a 1.8 liter engine, how long do you think the engine might last?
change the timing belt every 90k miles, and those Toyota motors can go 300K miles

How to clean out the car air vents?

I have a bit of a funky smell coming through my car's air vents, regardless of the heat or air conditioning being turned on or off. Is it possible to clean out the vents?

Also, where exactly is the source of air for the vents?

I have an older car, a 91 Cutlass Supreme, so I doubt I have that cabin filter, but are there any other filters that might need to be changed? How to clean out the car air vents?
The 91 Cutlass Supreme did not come equipped with a factory cabin air filter.

The smell coming from the vents is coming from the ac evaporator. The evaporator gets very cold and produces condensation. The majority of the condensation drips out of the drain plug outside on to the floor. However, there is always some moisture that is left behind and it eventually grows mold and causes a funky cheese or foot smell.

There are two ways to deal with this issue:

    1. Remove the evaporator and have it cleaned - But this involves many hours of labor and will be costly if you have a mechanic do it.

    2. Spray an evaporator treatment foam directly to the evaporator - You will have to remove the blower motor or the resistor to gain access to the evaporator, but it is a lot easier than removing the evaporator.

Hope this helps. How to clean out the car air vents?
filter no not that i know of you can blow them out with air hose suck then out with vacuum spray debree or hang a air freshenerHow to clean out the car air vents?
Well it could have a filter - go to one of the websites for your local parts store and see if you can look one up for it. That is usually the cause of a stinky vent. Otherwise I guess you could really have something in there, in which case I don't know of any easy way to find and/or remove it.

You could try some kind of flexible pole with a duster taped to the end of it I guess, a coat hanger comes to mine - the vent grilles should just pop out but if the car is that old, they could be starting to dry out and get brittle so be careful removing them..How to clean out the car air vents?

What could be causing this with my 2004 Toyota Camry?

I have a 2004 Toyota Camry with 120K miles on it. It's run relatively well until today. When I went to crank it this morning, it wouldn't start. It sounded like it wanted to, but wouldn't %26quot;catch%26quot;. After a few tries, it started. I ran my errand, which was only a few miles and returned home. I drove it again this evening, just to see if it would start ok and drive ok. It started ok, but less than a half mile from home, the check engine light came on and before shutting the car off, when it was in park, it idled really low and felt like it wanted to die out. I've NEVER had trouble like this with my car before. And it really has me scared. I changed my spark plugs last year, and my air filter and cabin air filter were changed last month. What could be causing this.....and how expensive is my repair bill going to be? Thanks in advance. What could be causing this with my 2004 Toyota Camry?

Take car to auto parts store and they will scan for the problem code, and give you a general area where the problem is. • Should I follow Toyota's service schedule or just follow a rule of thumb when it comes to maintenance?

    2005 Toyota Highlander

I really don't feel like paying alot for the dealer to %26quot;inspect%26quot; things on my car although Toyota's service schedule recommends it.

Someone on a Toyota forum told me this, what do you think?

If you intend on just draining and filling your fluids you should do your transmission fluid and engine coolant at 30k. If you intend on flushing those systems you can wait until you reach 45k, at that point I would do trans fluid, engine coolant, power steering fluid and brake fluid. How I recommend to my customers to maintain their vehicle is 5k oil changes and tire rotations, 15k along with the aforementioned do a wheel balance and alignment, between 15k-20k change your cabin filter and engine air filter (depending on where you live, i.e. dust, a lot of pollen, etc. 30k-45k recommend engine coolant and trans fluid, as well as brake fluid and power steering fluid closer at 45k. Between 45k-60k I would do your front and rear differential fluid if you have 4wd/awd and maybe a fuel injection cleaning. At 60k-90k I recommend plugs, plug wires, PCV valve (at least check it). At 90k I recommend (depending on the car, year) timing belt, water pump, cam/crank seals, accessory drive belts (serpentine drive belts) if they haven't been changed recently since you have to remove them to do timing belt, etc. That's maintenance.

Repairs such as brake pads, new tires, drive belts, etc are as needed.Should I follow Toyota%26039;s service schedule or just follow a rule of thumb when it comes to maintenance?
Nice vehicle, if you do the maintenance suggested, it will last and last.

The vehicle is getting older.... if it doesnt have any warranty, follow the schedule but dont get dealers to do it because yes, they are way more money, especially toyota... find a good independent mechanic.. small guy.. who knows toyotas.... it will cost you half...

I always maintain my vehicles according to maintenance schedules and they last.. my honda is ten years old, going on 11.. its like new..d drives like new... looks amazing... no worries and I follow hondas recommended plan.. but I have taken it to an independent guy for the last six years.... and it costs little compared to the dealer....

Oil... always change at 5000k..... its the blood of the vehicleShould I follow Toyota%26039;s service schedule or just follow a rule of thumb when it comes to maintenance?
sounds good i don't think you missed alot of stuff if any. usually as long as you keep up with the oil changes and regular stuff that pops up your toyota is going over 200,000 thousand miles with no strain and a good chance into the 300's. do you have a warranty left? that is gonna void the warranty if you awol the service on it.Should I follow Toyota%26039;s service schedule or just follow a rule of thumb when it comes to maintenance?
Follow the schedule %26amp; rule of thumb. You don't have to go to the dealer. Do it yourself or go independent.

How many air filters does a 2008 jeep compass have?

Purchased a 2008 Jeep Compass (sport) 1 year ago (and a week) i changed the air filter, but it is starting to give a musty smell when i turn on the heat. Does the compass have a different air filter or just the 1 for the car and cabin? How many air filters does a 2008 jeep compass have?
It can have a cabin air filter, but most vehicles ship without it. Either way, you can access the cabin air filter housing by opening the glovebox all the way (squeeze the sides so it clears the stops).

The filters are around $15 at the dealer.

Whether or not there's a cabin filter installed, make sure you're also following Chrysler's recommendations in the owner's manualæ””unning the air on recirculate all the time will encourage mold and bacteria to grow. he got all his filters changed out, oils topped off, oil changed, air intake, cabin air filter, wiper blades replaced, transmition flush. im not sure the specifics, i need to find the reciepts.....but it cost $171

im having a hard time believing that's how much it costs. he had never been there before and didn't know the specs on how much those should cost....also, they broke our glove box and didn't tell us (its where the cabin air filter is at)

should i be pissed?Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Sorry, but It's not Jiffy Lube's fault that your boyfriend didn't look at their prices before he asked them to do all the work. If Jiffy Lube posts all their prices and $171 is the total for all that service, then that's what it costs to have them do it. Their prices should be clearly posted in the store - go to the store and make sure they charged him correctly if you doubt the price is correct.

As for the glovebox being broken, I'd take the car back ASAP and talk to the manager of the Jiffy Lube about how it was broken after you had them change the cabin filter and work out how they're going to pay to fix it for you.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
After all the parts/labour that's probably about right.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
    BELIEVE IT.........

If it 10 years old or newer it costs to have a ride servicedDid my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
the only thing you have to be upset about is the broken glove box. to flush a manual trans at the dealer is like $100 and an auto trans at the dealer is like $200 all by its self so no the prices are ok but breaking things is unacceptable.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
My oil changes only cost me $29.99 with all the mentioned services. Wiper blades only cost me $20 from Auto Parts World and they change them for me. I have never changed transmition fluid, that's only if there is a specific problem. Filters are relatively inexpensive, maybe add $30-$40 to the total $80-$100 MAX! $171 was a hard screwing over and than some!Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Yeah I would be upset too. Much of that could have been replaced by you at a much cheaper cost if you had bought the parts yourself. I have not been to a Jiffy Lube on a decade. I figured out how to do all that myself saving me hundreds of dollars over time. It's not likely the trans needed to be flushed. All of those filters could have been picked up at your local parts store for 1/3 of what he paid I'm sure. Wiper blades would have been $14 for the pair at a parts store. Those swift talking people there are the reason why I don't go. They are not experts on my specific car.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Yes and no. Having all that work done at a place like Jiffylube can cost that much. If you do it on your own you can have it done for $50. If you do have them do the oil change don't ever have them add anything extra. Replacing an air filter is as easy as opened a case and putting a new $10 filter in, they will typically charge you $20 to have just that done. And yes, you should be pissed that they broke your glove box.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Parts alone wont cost that much. At garage they will always charge you for laber too. To me it sound about right. But it also depands what kind of oil or filter he got. The cheapest? Most expansive. Some places even charge $2 to install a single wiper blade. Cabin air filters can be expensive for some cars too.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
it sounds like that would be very close for all that service

but was all of it needed?

some garages pay a base amount plus commission

the more they do the bigger their payDid my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
He should have been told the cost before any extra work was done and approved it with his signature. If that was the case then he should have no complaints other than the broken glove box. It is not their fault he approved the work and then wants to complain about the price after the work is performed. If they performed the extra work without advising him of the cost and getting his signature as approval then YES he should be pissed, and should complain to them and the District or Regional manager. You will be surprised how attentive these shops can be when you ask for the address of either of these managers.

Buy a car never have any money. Buy a motorbike still have some money. Buy a push bike stay rich.Ain;t difficult.Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
    buyer beware!

your boyfriend should be more knowledgable about his car. that's how these places make the extra money, based on customer's ignorance. the techs let the customer know how often these items need changed or replaced, then strongly recommends having it done. the ultimate decision is left up to the customer, who wants to take care of his car and usually ok's the service, not realizing how quickly it all adds up until he pays at the end. (most likely, these services were not needed to be done anyway)

as for the glovebox, definitely take your car back and have the manager inspect it. he should take care of that right away, and if not, ask him for the regional manager's and corporate headquarter's phone numbers.

good luck and hope this helps

-a former jiffy lube %26quot;certified lubrication technician%26quot;Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
Ican't believe jiffy lube had all that. if u went to the dealer theyd charge u twice that. but dont go to those quick lube places. its just a matter of time before they strip your oil pan threads or god knows what else..Did my boyfriend get ripped off? went to jiffylube...?
They charge by how long it takes, not how easy/hard it is to do. That price sounds right, but as everyone is saying, that glove box issue he'll have to pay for it and might catch crap from his boss(es) for not telling anyone. Mechanics get a lot of %26quot;ever since%26quot;s as in %26quot;ever since you worked on my car this this this that stopped working....%26quot; which usually are something that the customer notices after they get their car back or maybe even previously knew about and took it in to blame it on the mechanic but this one is legit, It wont be hard to get them to fix the glove box. I tend to avoid specialty places like that though because if they break something, they don't know how to fix like the glove box, they have to send it to someone else, and they charge more.

Pull really hard.... no, j/k. Umm... I could be wrong, but there should be a couple of tabs that keep it from only coming down so far.... and if you squeeze in on the sides of the glovebox, then those tabs will go past their stops and then that sucker will swing all the way down to the floor and dump everything out and then you can get to the air filter. How do you remove the glove box?

Does a 2003 legacy L, A/T, 2.5L sedan have a transmission filter or is it just a magnetic plug? Anyone know how to change all of the tranny fluid out of this car? Lastly, does this car have a cabin air filter?Tranny filter/ air filter on 03 legacy?
Not sure about the tranny filter but If it does, you should be able to see it right next to the tranny from under the car. I guess another quick way to find out is to call your local Subaru dealer parts department. As far as draining, the only way to get all the fluid changed is to pull the pan or have the tranny flushed by a machine somewhere. A simple drain and fill will only get about 65% of the fluid out. I guess a couple drain and fills would get most of it changed for not a whole lot of money.

How common is a missing cabin air filter? Is the shop ripping me off?

I went in for an oil change as I have several times before. Sat in the waiting room eating some fast food, the technician comes in and holds a dirty air filter directly over our food, showing me it needs to be replaced. He then takes me out to my car and shows me my glove box and neighboring parts torn apart and lying in the foot well. Explains that they checked the cabin air filter and it wasn't even there! They recommend replacing it at a cost of $35, because of the labor. Not a huge cost, I almost did it, until I started wondering why they seemed suspicious to me.

Before servicing the car, they never even mentioned checking the cabin air filter or asked permission to open the glove box full of personal information, let alone tear half of the inside of the car apart. Afterward, they went on a story about how they just started carrying the filters in stock, that one of their cars was missing a filter once, and tried to sell me on how they are important for people with asthma or babies, etc. Of course, they had seen me unload our baby from the back seat earlier! They asked if there had been any bad smells, etc. I told them it has never been a problem and we just finished a long trip with the heater on the whole time.

I told them I could not pay $35 for a filter and would go to Autozone to get one and put it in myself. Since leaving, there has been the burning oil smell they asked about. Never smelled that before now!

The fact is, my wife bought the vehicle brand new 8 years ago and has been the only owner. She has never had anyone check the cabin air filter and is sure it has never been serviced or replaced. I檓 quite confident they don檛 sell this vehicle without the filter! Is there any chance they really did just go to check it and it wasn檛 there?! Is that standard procedure for any other shops? Should I report them to the BBB, online reviews, etc?How common is a missing cabin air filter? Is the shop ripping me off?
Your owner manual or a dealer or even you local auto zone can tell you vi the vin number if you vehicle cam equipped with a cabin filter. If so they are usually behind the glove box, but depends on the vehicle. Yep they can be a bit expensive in to 2o-40$ range. To save money I made my own from foam packing that is like an air filter, just had to cut to shape. this way I can remove and wash, no need to buy a new one.How common is a missing cabin air filter? Is the shop ripping me off?
It will eventually clog up the heater core, but besides that it is not that big of a deal. How common is a missing cabin air filter? Is the shop ripping me off?
Your car probably never had the Cabin Air Filter. Before about 1999-2000 they did not even exist. Often (depending on year/make/model) the CAF is an option, not a standard item. The car may be fitted for one, but it may not have been included on the option list of your particular car when it left the factory. If you bought it new and still have the window sticker then it is easy enough to find out. If the car is equipped for but not with a CAF you can certainly install one. People with allergy problems in particular may find the improvement in air quality desireable.

Cabin air filters do need to be replaced periodically, many owners don't even know they have one (and dirty ones can be a health hazard) and NOBODY checks their own. Why do you take your vehicle in for routine services like oil changes? Because you want to maintain it properly, yes? So why are you threatening to call the BBB when a shop tries to do just that? If I may humbly suggest, it would be better if you got your facts straight before you go bats--- crazy over something this minor. How common is a missing cabin air filter? Is the shop ripping me off?
35 dollars is a good price for a cabin filter. What filter was the tech holding over your food? maybe it was yours. Was it the same person who always performs the service on your car? if so 8 years is along time to wait to replace the cabin filter. never seen a cabin filter clog a heater core.

there isnt one in your car but you can put one in there is a spot under the passenger side cowell. go to this site and look for how to chagne one on a buick regal. It is the same thing. I have a 99 grand prix and I put one in mine. You can buy a filter at auto zone they carry the Bosch line which I think is the best. This is a bosch site that tells you the part numbers and show colored pictures along with instructions on how to change them. You should be able to get one for around $20.

read the owners manual it will let u know. as far as the smell from cigarrettes changing the filter is not gonna help because cigarettes leave a residue that now is covering the inside of your car. my suggestion is shampoo the inside of your car, air fresheners and if your wife insists upon smoking in the car have her at least roll the window down and in the winter at least crack the window. put your foot down!!!!!Is their an %26quot;Air in Cabin%26quot; Air Filter ,on a 1998 pontiac grand prix?
Well, I had tried to look up to see if and where its located. I can guess and say it might be an option, as these are fairly new tech wise for these years. Anyway, a couple of spots that it could be located, could be under the passenger side dash.(recommend a flshlight to see better), or under the hood on the passenger side of the car. According to alldatapro.com, it could be done in 15 minutes. So it most likely could be similar to an air filter look, but it would be a HEPA kind. Hope this helps somewhat. Just remeber, if you can't find it, it might not have been in your car, as an option from the factory.

  • Filter Change Gone Very Wrong?

Thanks to anyone that has legal advice on this matter, I'm reverting to this avenue before getting a lawyer involved.

I brought my vehicle into Jiffy Lube for an Oil change a month ago. They recommended that I replace my cabin air filter, so I did. The statement of work that I received from Jiffy Lube states that I received an oil change and also my cabin air filter was replaced. Shortly after my visit to Jiffy Lube, I began hearing loud vibrating noises underneath my glove box. I took my car into my dealer to see what the issue was and they told me that a lever on the Cabin Air Filter compartment was broken off and was rattling around in the blower. This piece controls where the source of air is coming from (either from outside the vehicle, or air within). Needless to say, to repair this costs around $1600.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should proceed with getting Jiffy Lube to pay for the damage? Do you think they will pay? Will my case hold in court? I have contacted the manager at Jiffy Lube and they would like me to bring in my car and inspect it.

    Thanks!!Filter Change Gone Very Wrong?

How to replace 1997 BMW 318is Cabin Air Filter?

I've had this car for about 5 years now and I was wondering if I need to change this filter. I see they are very cheap. I just don't quite know where to put it. I did some work in a house without the knowledge required and long story short messed with 93% Vinyl/7% asbestos tile and I'm suddenly developing paranoia and anxiety about having possibly gotten a few stray fibers in the car (the tile was never in the car nor were materials from the house). I've vacuumed about 3 times now and am set to steam clean it. When I drive I have all the windows and roof wide open in the hopes of just blowing anything out into the world. It didn't even occur to me until months after the fact that there could be a problem with the air quality in the car. So, anyway, how do I change the filter? Thanks! How to replace 1997 BMW 318is Cabin Air Filter?
Replacing the microfilter in your particular car is not easy.

Remove the glove box and the lower right dashboard cover (the trim cover immediately behind and below the glove box. Twist off the air duct. Remove the 2 upper screws holding the control module

holder, then pull down/lower the holder.

Some experienced technicians do not remove the glove box, only the lower dash cover.

On the right side of the evaporator blower, at the far end, is a vertical semi trapezoidal/rectangular plastic cover which has a round lock/knob that has to be twisted 45 degrees to unlock the cover.

After unlocking, remove the cover and pull out the soiled microfilter.

It is! Just open your glove box and you may see a little compartment towrds the top of it. You just pull it out and replace the cabin filter. I used to work at Jiffy Lube and we used to replace these all the time. If you cant figure it out i would recommend going to a Jiffy Lube, and since you already have a filter, they may not charge you for labor, since its fairly simple.

I have a low-mileage car and normally only get the 15,000 mile service every 3 years. If I know how to change the filter myself, I could change it every 1.5 years to keep the car smelling fresh. Where is it, and is it hard to get to it? Thanks. Is it easy to replace a cabin air filter in a Lexus?
On all of the Lexus models that I work on it is easy to replace the cabin filter. On most models all you have to do is remove a plastic cover in the glovebox. The instructions are in your owners manual. You should have no problem. When you buy some filters the instructions are in the box. Be careful, sometimes there are leaves and debris on top of the filter when you remove it. The debris can fall into the blades of your heater fan. If this happens, take a vacuum cleaner with a small flexible attachment on it and remove it from the fan. If debris falls in the fan it will vibrate when it runs at high speeds. Is it easy to replace a cabin air filter in a Lexus?
Not sure about ease to get. If it is easy to replace, then how to do so will be in owners manual. Watch the next time you take it in (or ask) and remember.

Well, I was gonna say check the Owners Manual before I clicked your post but...

I can't find anything handy on it either that's conclusive, but the most common location seems to be if you pop the hood open, and look just in front of the windshield on the passenger side, and look for a long rectangular part that unscrews and lifts out.

You will need to remove the glovebox compartment and frame from the dash panel,a 10mm socket wrench and phillips screwdriver is all you need. After the glovebox has removed, you will see on the hvac housing a rectangular access panel for the filter, At the bottom of this panel is a release clip, simply put your finger on it,pull out on it slightly while pulling the access panel door down, there may also be a small know about 1/2 way up that you may have to turn a 1/2 turn if this panel separates into 2 pieces/ once the panel is removed, pull out the cabin filter and replace. If there is no filter, you still have the option to install one. Install all removed parts and your done. I may want to mention that there may be a small elastic cord on the right side of the glovebox,be carful not to break it. Hope this helps.

Do you mean your cars engine air intake filter? If so it is recommended to change them anywhere from every 7000 to 25000 miles depending on your location and how much driving you do. If you have your cars owners manual it will explain when you should change the filter for your particular make and model. I change mine every 15000 or 5th oil change. I know it can be done I have a new filter for it I bought at the store. but I am not exactly sure where it is located inside my car and I do not want to tear the whole dash apart to find it. I know it needs it bad, a smoker owned the car before me and I live on a dirt road. Thank you very much. How do you change the cabin air filter in a 2002 VW Beetle Sport.?
first remove the centre panel on top of the dash by pushing it forward .

next remove the left panel that's held in place by 3 torx screws, once you have done that there is another panel held together by what seems to be 3 trillion screws, you will probably fall asleep getting them out, when all the screws are out you will need to be careful to remove the panel it can get tricky.and finally you have reached your destination, there you will find the pollen filter which by now you will be convinced its laughing at you. hope this helps

In the center of the dash, above the radio, there is a piece that slides forwards. Once you push that towards the windshield, it will come out. Under that piece you will see three T25 torx screws with these crazy spring washers. Take those out and you will be able to lift the right side of the dash out, sometimes having to unplug a speaker. Under the right side piece that you just removed there is a final piece that is held down with 5 or 6 more T25 torx screws. Pull that piece out and you will be looking at the fresh air filter.

Does anyone know how to the change the cabin air filter on a 2004 Ford Expedition?

THe manual is not clear if the cabin air filter is under the dashboard or in the engire compartment.Does anyone know how to the change the cabin air filter on a 2004 Ford Expedition?
You need to pull the dash because it's in it. That is something you would want the dealer to do or a qualifed shop. That is not one of those DIY projects.

I need to replace the cabin air filter on my '07 ford ford focus. My plan is to purchase the filter at an auto parts store and replace/install the new one myself. I have never done this before. If anyone knows how to I would greatly appreciate a reply. Thanks. How do I change the cabin air filter on my 2007 Ford Focus?
Your car does not have a filter.

If it did, you would find the information in the %26quot;Climate Control%26quot; section of your manual and would provide the location of the filter.

I just changed my air conditioner air filters located behind the glove box on my 2002 Civic and most late model Hondas. Just remove the glove box and you should see the access to the air filters directly behind it in a black box. Mine has two filters, one on top of the other behind a cover inside slide out plastic frames, remove the frames one at a time, take out the old filters from each frame, replace filters into frames, restack frames back into box, close cover, put glove box back on.How do i change the cabin air filter of my car?
